Director, UNC Charlotte Office of Classroom Support

Steve Clark, Director of the Office of Classroom Support at UNC Charlotte, was instrumental in the creation of this office, which is dedicated to addressing the classroom support needs--both high-tech and low--of all colleges and departments on campus. As a long-time member of the campus community, Steve has always worked to ensure that students have the opportunity to learn in the best possible classroom facilities. His years as a Computing Consultant in the Biology Department and later IT Systems Administrator for the College of Arts & Sciences helped him to understand the value for instructors of access to state of the art computer technology in the classroom.

Steve's dedication to the success of Classroom Support is evident in his long hours of campus time, his many parking tickets received (!), and the design of the podium itself, which was perfected in Steve's home garage over several crazy nights and weekends in early spring 2005. His prototype improved on the original TEC podium to allow for adjustable chair height, wheelchair compatibility, a writing surface for the instructor, and improved security for the podium components, all while allowing easier component access for the instructor.
